UNIAP's Rapid Response Alliance in Cambodia

The Rapid Response Alliance | Increased Vulnerabilty | RRA Activities

About the RRA

The RRA consists of a voluntary consortium of partners, including UN Agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, that link their respective initiatives and services to mitigate the direct negative impacts of the GFC on garment factory workers in Cambodia. There were two areas of intervention proposed for the RRA:

Outreach & Awareness-raising
A variety of awareness-raising and outreach approaches have been developed to educate current and laid-off garment workers through magazines, hotline, radio-call in shows, television, and other means on issues of trafficking, safe migration, financial education, how to decrease vulnerability if underemployed, unemployed or employed in a new work setting.

Alternative Services
To link outreach and awareness-raising to existing alternative services, including vocational training with job placement assistance, alternative livelihoods, job referral, safe migration, micro-credit, IEC materials, and tools for household budgeting.

For an increased effect in the targeting of garment factory workers, a direct link between outreach & awareness-raising and alternative services has been established though a hotline and networks.
